In FY 2013-14, we launched community engagement initiatives in three villages of Nasik district to create infrastructure for education there.
The three villages - Dixi, Shivare and Kothure -are primarily agrarian, with more than 80% of their population relying on agriculture and allied activities for their livelihood.
Nearly 40% of these villagers are small farmers and agricultural labourers belonging to the economically and socially weaker sections of society.
Primary schools in all these villages lacked basic infrastructure, including benches for students.
As part of the Republic Day celebrations, we provided benches and built compound walls for schools in these villages.
425 students were also provided with school kits comprising notebooks and stationary.
